I have been making visual art for longer than I have been playing guitar. There are some similarities between what I have done musically and what I have done visually, but mostly the two take quite different paths. The visual arts for me are my release, I count them as one of the only endeavors I enjoy doing absolutely alone, so in this way they differ a great deal from my music. Where I crave group interaction within improvisation, I crave isolation and solitary while painting or drawing. However, I do typically enjoy dealing with a certain randomness and chaos in the visual realm that relates somewhat to what I like to do musically. I hope to soon get back to doing a little painting, even if it is just as a way to relax and take my mind of all the academic stuff!
Even though I’ve been painting and drawing for many years, I have never felt the urge to sell any of my work, this is also unlike the music. I have have given many works away - found them “good homes” with good people. I hope you will enjoy some of the images presented here.
Traditionally photograms are created in a darkroom by positioning various translucent and opaque object on photo paper and then using the photographic enlarger as a light source. These were done using a flashlight in a darkroom - a rather risky technique that made the others in this public darkroom a little uncomfortable!
